F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!

When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!



¨¤ F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!

F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....thats the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...



à An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah thats right!!!)

At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

à To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.

Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.



à In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!

The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.

During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.



à Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.

A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best 20grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

First Swimming Car of the World











Three decades ago James Bond (then enacted by British star Roger Moore) wowed the world with a car that could 'fly' under water in the movie The Spy Who Loved Me. Only, it was animation and not an actual scene.

But Frank M Rinderknecht, the 52-year-old automobile visionary and boss of Swiss automaker Rinspeed, has turned a dream into reality with his 'sQuba.'

Rinspeed sQuba is the most exciting thing at this year's Geneva Motor Show and is creating many a ripple.

sQuba is the world's first real submersible car that can 'move like a fish underwater'.
It can dive up to 32.8 feet (10 mt) below the surface of the water and can move at a sedate 1.8 miles per hour.

The sQuba has an open cockpit for 'safety reasons' (so that people can get out easily anytime in case of an emergency). The occupants of the car have to breathe compressed air through built-in scuba masks.

sQuba is an electric car that uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and 3 electric motors for propulsion. It is a zero-emission car as documented by the rotating license plate in the rear. It produces no exhaust emissions.

The 'sQuba's' filling station is the water reservoir.? It is no surprise that the vehicle features powerful yet energy-saving LED lighting technology.
The first car that could drive underwater was Quandt's Amphibicar, built in 1968. Only 3,878 were produced but many are still being driven on roads.

Then Gibbs Technologies came up with Gibbs Aquada in 2004 which Virgin boss Richard Branson used to break the speed record for crossing the English Channel.
However, the sQuba seems to be the most exciting of them all.

To drive on the roads, the sQuba 'relies on a stainless coil-over suspension from KW automotive and large Pirelli tires mounted on custom-made forged light-weight wheels from AEZ with 17- and 18-inch diameters.

In the competitive world of sleek and wind splitting motorcycle design, aero-dynamic drag efficiency takes a back seat only to face stretching speed and performance.
This latest concept by NON-OBJECT called “nUCLEUS” throws out the current rule book and presents this “Square Against Air” electric motorcycle design.
nUCLEUS boasts a thin comfortable saddle and horse-like behavior that lowers itself when idle and raises when in motion.
The air defying side-view hides the fact that these pieces of metal are simply blades from the front.
It would be curious to see how this machine proves itself in a wind tunnel and stability at high speeds.

Panasonic PZ850 is Web-enabled

Panasonic has just launched its new VIERA plasma HDTV that consists of the PZ850 series that are Web-enabled, allowing you to access popular content from the Internet such as YouTube, Google’s Picasa Web Album and Bloomberg without having to turn on your computer. This VIERA line was initially previewed at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in January 2008, but at least we consumers have the option to purchase one of these puppies this time around. Panasonic’s VIERA 1080p PZ850 series offers features designed for the most demanding videophile - enhanced contrast ratio, deeper blacks, faster response time and outstanding picture quality in four screen sizes - the 46-inch class TH-46PZ850 (46.0″ measured diagonally), the 50-inch class TH-50PZ850 (49.9″ measured diagonally), the 58-inch class TH-58PZ850 (58.0″ measured diagonally) and the 65-inch class TH-65PZ850 (64.8″ measured diagonally). Coupled with Panasonic’s new VIERA CAST technology, the PZ850 series will give consumers on-screen access to a far broader range of unique content than ever before.

The PZ850 makes it a snap to enjoy High Definition digital still and video images in a 16:9 widescreen format simply by inserting an SD memory card into the PZ850 itself.
